In an effort to accomplish Governor Ducey’s Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) initiative the ASDB has joined with MindfulnessFirst in creating a video series to address this initiative. Our joint efforts have afforded us the first video that addresses trauma. Please see the link below.

Watch the video here:Trauma/ACES

With the additional understanding from the trauma video (above) many of you have discovered, even more, the challenges of being Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually-impaired or deafblind, and how they affect teaching/learning. Through the work of MindfulnessFirst, along with members of the ASDB staff we have created this second informative video that gives insight into mindfulness. Please see the link below.

Watch the video here:Introduction to Mindfulness

Because there is “Optional Professional Development” for viewing these videos, the agency will offer two hours of professional development to any staff member, after viewing each of the mindfulness videos.

Should you be interested, please submit your response, to the three (3) questions below, to the Organizational Development Division (ODD) for review and response to receive your certificate.

1. What are two (2) areas of interest you found in the video?

2. How will you apply what you learned to your current position within the agency?

3. What further study/information will you pursue in these areas of interest?

Note: the remaining videos in this series (to be released over the next several months), can also be used for professional development certificates by following these same guidelines.

Should you have any questions please submit them to our ODD email address: [email protected]
