Assistant Principal

image001Greetings from your new Assistant Principal! My name is Flint Fears. I am beyond thrilled to accept this new job here at Phoenix Day School for the Deaf. I bring almost 12 years of experience from Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Arkansas School for the Deaf as teacher and administrator. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with the incredibly talented and dedicated faculty and staff. I am looking forward to a very exciting and productive school year.

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf has fostered an atmosphere of success and accomplishment. I believe this is a direct result of the partnership between staff and parents who are committed to providing a diversity of learning experiences. Together, we can continue to focus on high student achievement, innovation and the development of well-rounded students. We can truly achieve the PDSD Vision of challenging and empowering students to be successful in a highly competitive world. This year’s motto is “Together We Are One…Team, School, Culture and Community;” without the support of our team of students, parents, staff and the community, none of this would be possible.

I am, with the guidance of the Principal, responsible for the daily operations of Student Services in regards to the following: discipline issues and policies, attendance, counselors, audiologists, IEP coordinators, speech pathologists, ASL and Spanish interpreters, school psychologist, educational diagnostician, media and student health services, etc.

Of course, school is not my only love. I have a deaf daughter, Maddie, 14 years old. I spend much time being daddy by taking her to sports, shopping, softball, dance, soccer, softball, etc.  I have loved watching her grow, learn and develop into the young woman that she has become.

I believe teamwork and open communication are very important and know that together we will continue to ensure a positive and productive learning environment for our students. I am excited to help support the students, parents, teachers and community of PDSD, and I look forward to meeting and working with each of you! I believe that all students can be successful. By working together, we can help all students to have a successful year.

My door is always open.  If you have questions, concerns or comments that you want to share with me, please feel free to email, call or set up an appointment with me 602-771-5303 or [email protected]. In closing, I want you to know your children are my priority.  Thank you for choosing PDSD and allowing us the opportunity to work with your children, our future.  It is a joy watching them learn and grow.
