Two HUGE ways Nature was celebrated yesterday!
First, it was the Great American Total Solar Eclipse. Ok, not in Arizona but it was a great event to see (only with special glasses though!).
Second, PDSD received a grant for 28 trees to be planted around campus to provide shade. They are low water use trees which are also drought resistant.
To help us commemorate the groundbreaking of the first tree to be planted were Councilwoman Betty Guardado and two of our Roadrunner Athletes, Kotu Salih, and Miracle Brooks. When grown, some of these trees will be 30 feet tall and shower us with shade from the sun, even when it’s not in the middle of an eclipse.
Thanks to Kayla Killoren from the City of Phoenix who helped get the trees for PDSD and Shelley Beaudean for writing the grant on behalf of PDSD!
